Testimonies of Healing

When I was a boy, we moved next door to a Christian Science family. After her husband had gone to work, the wife would go out into the backyard to study the Christian Science Quarterly Lesson-Sermon from the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs.

Christian Science came to me at a time when I was extremely depressed and fearful and growing more and more embittered and resentful over discordant and very difficult relationships, prolonged illness in the home, and an increasing sense of lack. I was in despair; I no longer knew what to do.

It is some forty years since Christian Science was brought to my notice in a time of great need. I was greatly impressed by what I heard of its healing power, and very soon afterward Science and Health was brought to me by a woman who had received wonderful healing results from its teachings.

When I found Christian Science, I was filled with self-importance and self-will, thinking that my way was the only way, and even when proof was presented revealing that I was wrong, I was too stubborn to accept it, becoming quite impatient, irritated, and unforgiving to those who disagreed with me. How very much I needed the correcting rod! As I studied Christian Science, I learned how important it is to profit by the lessons learned.

I was educated in a religion that did not sustain me, and I prayed to be led to Truth. Our Father-Mother God has indeed blessed me with His answer, Christian Science.

In my teens I lived in a small town where I became acquainted with a Christian Scientist, who truly let her light shine. She explained the Bible more clearly than anyone else I had ever known.

Not having found satisfactory answers to many questions and problems through membership and active participation in an orthodox Protestant church, I spent a number of years away from church and investigated other faiths. Unfavorable conditions of health and disposition relating back to childhood and supposedly prenatal in origin had neither been healed nor alleviated through the prayers of my church or through my own efforts to find God's presence, although I sought Him diligently.

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength" ( Isa. 40:31 ).

I once returned from vacation to my office to find that some problems had accumulated. There were a number of decisions that had to be made, and I found that a feeling of pressure and fatigue was replacing the happiness and refreshment with which I had returned from the holiday with my family.

I was led into Christian Science many years ago, not because I was seeking physical healing, but because I was searching for true religion as practiced by Christ Jesus and his disciples. I always knew that Christianly scientific government was operating, but I never thought I would find it in this world.
