Testimonies of Healing
For more than twenty years Christian Science has been my only physician, and my gratitude to God for our Leader and for the textbook, Science and Health, which she wrote, is immeasurable. During these years I have had many proofs of God's loving care and protection enabling me to enjoy a full, happy, and healthy life.
With a heart overflowing with gratitude to God for "his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men" ( Ps. 107:8 ), I write this testimony.
My first expression of gratitude in the periodicals appeared as a testimony in the Journal of June, 1939. The healings enumerated in that testimony have been permanent.
I came into Christian Science when I was a young woman. At that time I had been suffering from tuberculosis for six and a half years.
My mother's daily example of a life dedicated to the teachings of Christian Science in gratitude for her healing of what had been medically diagnosed as an incurable heart disease has been an unceasing source of encouragement to me in meeting successfully the many challenges encountered in my progress Spiritward. A severe eye infection resulted in the need for me to wear glasses; but I was healed, and the glasses were later discarded as a direct result of the application of the truths I had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School.
When my son was about eight years old, an abnormal gland condition developed in his neck. The swelling seemed to increase in size every day; so we asked for the help of a Christian Science practitioner.
At the time of the birth of our second child, who passed on when only a few hours old, I was not a Christian Scientist. The attending physician felt it was necessary for me to have a blood transfusion.
Having lived near a Church of Christ, Scientist, since early childhood, it seems as if I had always known of Christian Science. Many of our neighbors were Christian Scientists, and through them I grew to respect and love the teachings of this religion.
From childhood I have loved the Bible and its promises. However, until I became a student of Christian Science, the Bible seemed contradictory in places, hidden in mystery.
I am thankful to have been a student in the Christian Science Sunday School from early childhood until I was twenty. There the seeds of Truth were planted.
