Testimonies of Healing
Though I had been reared in a Christian Science home and had seen this religion practiced from an early age, it was not until I really accepted its teachings for myself that I fully realized the limitless possibilities of Mrs. Eddy's revelation.
When I first found Christian Science, I was suffering from nervous indigestion. Through many years several doctors had attended me, and though I had received temporary relief, I was not healed.
In the Bible ( James 1:17 ) we read that "every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. " This has been proved to me during the past nine years in which I have been studying Christian Science.
When my husband and I were married after World War I, we decided to look for a religion better suited to our needs than the one we had at that time. After a long search we were led to accept and read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.
I should like to bear witness to the healing power of Christian Science. My husband and I have found that the understanding reached through the study of this divine revelation has removed a false sense of responsibility when physical difficulties and trials have arisen during the rearing of our three children.
The first thing that impressed me about Christian Science was its consistency. Although I was only seventeen when I first learned of it, I had given a great deal of thought to God, to life, and to the nature of things.
It has been said that "man's extremity is God's opportunity. " Over six years ago when I was suffering from abdominal, back, and leg trouble I was at a point of extremity.
Many are the blessings which have come to me through the study and sincere application of Christian Science. Among them are membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, with the privilege of serving the latter in a number of capacities.
That Christian Science has been available to me since I was a small child is, to me, cause for much gratitude. I am also grateful for an increasing awareness of the need to keep my consciousness filled with Truth and Love so that God's omnipotence and goodness may be constantly demonstrated.
In the year 1901 my mother was introduced to Christian Science, and she readily accepted its teachings because they gave her a satisfying explanation of God as demonstrated by Christ Jesus. Devoted study of the Bible and of Science and Health by Mrs.
