
Testimonies of Healing
In the hope that they will bless others, I am happy to share some of the many blessings that I have received through the study of Christian Science. At one time, when my work involved traveling, I had received permission from my employer for my mother and her sister to join me along the way.
My first healing took place over twenty-one years ago. I had been ill for about six years with malaria and had been told that I would always have to take certain prescribed medicines.
As a child I had a deep desire to know about man's origin and his future life; so at an early age I tried to read the King James Version of the Bible. However, I laid it down as incomprehensible.
I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to God for Christian Science, for the many blessings and experiences of protection that I have had through its study during many years, and also for the victory over the claim of defective hearing. I awoke one winter morning with a dull sense of hearing.
At one time many years ago when I was new in the study of Christian Science, I found myself quite unable to renew my quarterly subscription to the Christian Science publications. However, on dwelling upon these words of Mrs.
I wish to express my gratitude for the testimonies which appear in our periodicals. They are always a source of encouragement to me in working out the problems of daily life.
Because of much suffering and lack during the depression days of 1930, my husband and I were ready to receive Christian Science when a dear friend presented it to us. Since we were not members of any church at that time, we started attending the services at a Christian Science church immediately and registered our two children—one four and the other five—in the Sunday School.
On page 571 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read, "Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you.
While I was attending to some business in another town, I found that the bus had left the station but a minute before I arrived and that there would not be another one for an hour. It was imperative that I get home soon because of another business appointment; so I went to a taxi stand, but no cab was available.
" O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me" ( Ps. 30:2 ).
