Testimonies of Healing
At an early age I became acquainted with the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which had been given to my father.
[Original in German] My first healing in Christian Science took place in 1932. I had been suffering severe pain for several days, and it was getting worse.
It is not only a feeling of deep gratitude that prompts me to tell of an experience of mine, but also the wish that all those who have had to struggle for a long time as I did may gather new hope and courage for the solution of their problems. Some years ago I lost an interesting and well-paying position.
Many times it has been my blessing to witness the wonders of God's love. In humility and gratitude I offer the following experiences as evidence of divine Love and with the hope that they may supply inspiration to those who may be in search of a higher sense of home.
Christian Science has brought me many blessings and healings since I began the study of it more than twenty years ago. About two years ago I had two healings that have meant much to me.
When my husband and I first met, he was stricken with osteomyelitis and for three years endured numerous operations on shoulder and knee. I recommended that he try Christian Science, but it was not until the doctors offered no positive hope and he had become discouraged in the effort to finish his engineering course that he went to a Christian Science practitioner.
My parents began the study of Christian Science when I was a child, and we experienced many beautiful healings. My mother was wonderfully saved from being electrocuted when, with a wet cloth in her hand and standing on wet ground, she put her hand around a wire clothesline which, unknown to her, was in contact with an electric wire.
My first testimony appeared in a Christian Science Sentinel in 1915 when I was a young student of Christian Science. As I look back over the years since then, I realize how very much I have been blessed and how many healings I have had.
" Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him" ( Matt. 6:8 ).
Christian Science found me at the brink of hopelessness due to ill-health, frustration, confusion, and grief. While alone in a large city, without home, funds, or work, I went to a Sunday evening service at a Church of Christ, Scientist.
