Testimonies of Healing

I grew up in a home where Christian Science was studied and practiced, and my husband and I have had the joy of seeing our children reared in such a home. They learned from early infancy to love Truth and to depend on Christian Science to meet their needs.

Soon after becoming a serious student of Christian Science, I came upon this statement on page 406 of Science and Health by our Leader: "The depraved appetite for alcoholic drinks, tobacco, tea, coffee, opium, is destroyed only by Mind's mastery of the body. This normal control is gained through divine strength and understanding.

I have had many healings through the application of the truth as taught in Christian Science; some have come with the help of practitioners, and others as a result of my own understanding that God's spiritual laws are present and instantly available to heal and bless. One time while traveling by automobile in an unfamiliar place, we were overtaken by a severe storm.

I first became interested in Christian Science as a result of seeing the happy faces of the many people coming out of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, after the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. When I went to work in the head office of the firm which had employed me in my home city, I learned that one of my coworkers was a student of Christian Science.

At a time of extreme strain and stress in my experience a friend gave me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

Christian Science was presented to my mother when I was a very small child. She accepted and utilized it daily in rearing her family of five children, and many were the healings of so-called children's diseases, cuts, upset stomach, colds, sunburn, school problems, lack, discordant relationships, and undiagnosed illnesses.

My family became interested in Christian Science about twenty-six years ago when my mother was healed of a heart condition and other complications which a number of specialists had said would prove fatal. Soon after this, I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School, in which I began to learn how to make the teachings of Christ Jesus practical in my own experience.

My gratitude is unbounded for the numerous healings and blessings which have been mine over a period of many years through the ministrations of God's law, Christian Science. When this Science presented itself to my thought a number of years ago I was living in Europe, and I knew nothing whatever of it.

Many healings have come to me and my family as a result of our putting into practice the teachings of Christian Science. Our gratitude for these healings is deeper than can be expressed in words.

After having had only two and a half years of high school, I left in order to help support my parents and sisters during the depression years. When I later became a student of Christian Science, I mentioned my limited training to a practitioner.
