For as long as I could remember I had wanted to know what the truth is. Although I occasionally attended a Christian Science Sunday School, it was not until my early adult years that my intense desire to find the truth led me to search earnestly for it in the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy. As I studied, it became increasingly clear to me that Christian Science offers proof of its doctrine by demonstration, as did Jesus, who healed sickness and discord through scientific prayer alone.
That Christian Science is the complete and final revelation of Truth was proved to my husband and me in the following experience. Shortly after our marriage, we became involved in a labyrinth of pseudo-intellectual metaphysical reasoning. Turning to person and human opinion instead of to Principle, we began to listen to the fallacious argument that complete truth could not be found within the limits of the Christian Science movement.
We began reading many so-called metaphysical books, including some unauthorized books about Christian Science and some dealing with oriental philosophies. The more we read, the more confused we became. Inharmony began to appear in every phase of our experience. My husband's business deteriorated; our marriage became unhappy; social and moral standards were lowered; physical ills did not yield to prayer; every activity was filled with frustration.
