In the Bible we find an instance of dedicating a child to the service of God at an early age. Hannah said of her son Samuel (I Sam. 1:28), "I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord."
Could a parent have a better outlook for his child than to devote thought to his spiritual growth and education to the end that he serve God, divine Life, Truth, and Love, and bless his fellow men by his good example? Wise are the parents who bend their efforts to promoting in their children love for God, obedience to His commands, and love for their fellow men.
Hannah's son Samuel became a powerful influence for good among his people. It was he who discerned the qualities of spiritual leadership in David, who because of these qualities was anointed above his brothers for a high position.
