"THOUGHT EXPANDS INTO EXPRESSION"

From the May 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the opening lines of the chapter entitled "Creation" in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy says (p. 255): "Eternal Truth is changing the universe. As mortals drop off their mental swaddling-clothes, thought expands into expression."

The entertainment of the Holy Ghost promotes the expansion and development of thought. The spiritual definition of "Holy Ghost" is given in the Glossary of the textbook as follows (p. 588): "Divine Science; the development of eternal Life, Truth, and Love."

Christian Science teaches that man is always intact, the perfect image and likeness of God, the one great and only cause or Principle. When human thought comes into contact with Christian Science and lives it, the original, primal selfhood begins to show forth. Mrs. Eddy states (ibid., p. 503), "Immortal and divine Mind presents the idea of God: first, in light; second, in reflection; third, in spiritual and immortal forms of beauty and goodness." Expansion and development come with spiritual light.
