Enthusiasm for the revelation that God, the all-loving Mind, is man's only real consciousness impels the Christian Scientist to live his gratitude and praise. With joy he affirms with the Psalmist (Ps. 40:5), "Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered."
Radiant confidence in the allness of Mind and in the changeless perfection of its creation opens wide the door of receptivity. When one waits for the ceaseless flow of Mind's ideas, one's overcoming of discord need be neither arduous nor prolonged. Divine thoughts need to be listened to and obeyed, not waited for. Mind's ideas are ever present, ever available, inexhaustible, omnipotent. They are instant correctives to every human error. They are thought-transforming, melting discord by revealing reality. Truly realistic, these God-imparted thoughts "are more than can be numbered," for they represent Mind's boundless goodness and oneness.
Spontaneity, fidelity, purity, and tireless endeavor are essential to the healing activity of true enthusiasm. On page 110 of "Miscellaneous Writings" our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tenderly arouses each one of us to recognize and express his life purpose in these words: "Beloved children, the world has need of you,—and more as children than as men and women: it needs your innocence, unselfishness, faithful affection, uncontaminated lives." She asks that these virtues remain unspotted by worldly contact. Herein lies the enthusiastic realism of the true, childlike consciousness, active, loving, eager to prove the practicality of Truth in every detail. Thus, in ever-widening spheres, each opportunity for progress becomes an invigorating divine adventure.
