AGE CANNOT CAUSE IMPAIRMENT

From the May 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To mortal sense human existence consists of birth, growth, maturity, decline, and death. When we accept Christian Science and the wonderful truths of God and man, which it teaches, we begin to grasp the marvelous facts of true existence, of God as Life eternal and of man as the immortal expression of that Life. Through this Science we learn that time and space are mental concepts and that they are overcome as humanity understands that existence always was, is, and ever will be spiritual.

Christian Scientists have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of these facts in their individual lives. So persistent, however, is the belief of mortals in the growth, maturity, and decay of the material body within certain time limits that those who have learned better cannot be too zealous in rejecting the false arguments and disabilities that are attached to each period of mortal life.

To be an infant and undeveloped is little better than to be aged and failing. Every so-called period of life in matter, whether that matter is called healthy or sick matter, young or old matter, must be wholly rejected, for matter with all its conditions is a departure from that standard of spiritual perfection which is a fundamental of Christian Science, because God, Spirit, is the only creator.
