Testimonies of Healing

My marriage was the culmination of a boy and girl friendship, commenced in our school days. While we were still teen-agers, my friend became interested in Christian Science, a religion then very new, at least, in Australia.

I used to ponder the statement in John's Gospel, where Jesus states ( 14:12 ), "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also. " I thought: "Why do not people today do the works he said we would? Surely somewhere there is a religion which practices his teachings.

I Became interested in Christian Science in the year 1919. My husband had met with an accident on his way home from work.

I Have had the benefit of Christian Science teaching since early childhood, and it has never failed to meet my need when properly applied. When I was a child, my mother was healed of chronic appendicitis through the study of the Bible and of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and with the aid of a Christian Science practitioner.

I always derive so much good from reading the testimonies in our periodicals that I should like to share mine. I shall ever be grateful to my mother, who, when she took up this religion, enrolled me as a small child in the Christian Science Sunday School.

" I will mention the loving-kindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us. " These words from the Bible ( Isa.

Twenty-Six years ago we had our first healing through Christian Science treatment. Our young daughter had been suffering from asthma for several years and was having frequent attacks.

So numerous have been the physical healings I have had in Christian Science and so extensive the many other blessings that it would be impossible to tell of them in a reasonable number of words. However, in gratitude to God I should like to tell of some of them and also to say that the greatest blessing of all has been this: that I have found, through Christian Science, God's continuing guidance, day by day, in my life.

" How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth" ( Isa. 52:7 ).

When Christian Science found me and my family, we were deeply in debt, struggling to start a new manufacturing business. My husband was an alcoholic trying desperately to maintain sobriety.
