Testimonies of Healing

Although since childhood I had been a member of a Protestant church and Sunday School, very active in the church work, and devoted to Bible reading and prayer, my spiritual needs had not been met. I listened to services broadcast by many different denominations only to turn away sobbing, "I can't find God.

Since early childhood, the truths of Christian Science have dispelled my fears and brought comfort and healing into my life. Once, when I was about four years of age, I jumped into a pile of ashes left from a bonfire.

Christian Science was presented to me by a neighbor, and it was shortly afterward that I had my first healing. I was suffering from bladder trouble.

My heart overflows with gratitude for many wonderful healings through Christian Science; but the ones mentioned in this testimony seem to me to be outstanding and to be responsible for much spiritual growth. Some years ago I had a bitter experience, and I seemed to suffer extremely from persecution.

Over fifty years ago Christian Science came into my family through the instantaneous healing of one member. Gradually each member became interested and received many blessings.

I should like to express my gratitude for the privilege of serving in a Christian Science Sunday School and to tell how an incident related in one of the lessons helped in the healing of a critical business situation. One Sunday morning I asked a class of ten-to-twelve-year-old children, "Why do we come to Sunday School?" With very little hesitation one of the boys replied, "To learn of God.

For many years I had been a medical nurse. As I read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, dark images of disease were removed from thought, and the glorious light of the freedom of the sons of God replaced the false theological belief that God was testing me.

I shall never cease to be grateful to the friend who sent me a gift subscription for The Christian Science Monitor . I had been in a sanatorium for a long time under treatment for tuberculosis.

Christian Science was introduced to our family when my father was healed of blood poisoning so severe that the doctor said his leg must be amputated. This healing took place when I was eight years old and was the beginning of a new way of life for us.

During childhood years it was necessary for me to seek refuge in many different homes. After I had completed the grade schools, I was directed to a home where the parents of a family of four children were students of Christian Science.
