Testimonies of Healing
When one of our daughters was born, the attending physician discovered that I had a large fibroid tumor which he declared must be removed by surgery if I ever hoped to lead a normal life. Believing there might be a chance that the verdict would be reversed, my husband brought in for consultation three of the finest surgeons in the state, all of whom were of one opinion—that an operation was the only answer to the difficulty, although no promise of my complete recovery could even then be given.
" Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" ( Rev. 3:20 ).

Through the application of Christian Science, I have had innumerable proofs of God's goodness. Among these proofs have been the successful completion of a graduate course of study in the field of education, opportunities to help children overcome difficult problems in schoolwork and behavior, the return of stolen possessions, and healings of physical discomforts; but what is most important is that a greater sense of inner peace has been found.
My marriage was the culmination of a boy and girl friendship, commenced in our school days. While we were still teen-agers, my friend became interested in Christian Science, a religion then very new, at least, in Australia.
I used to ponder the statement in John's Gospel, where Jesus states ( 14:12 ), "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also. " I thought: "Why do not people today do the works he said we would? Surely somewhere there is a religion which practices his teachings.
I Became interested in Christian Science in the year 1919. My husband had met with an accident on his way home from work.
I Have had the benefit of Christian Science teaching since early childhood, and it has never failed to meet my need when properly applied. When I was a child, my mother was healed of chronic appendicitis through the study of the Bible and of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and with the aid of a Christian Science practitioner.
I always derive so much good from reading the testimonies in our periodicals that I should like to share mine. I shall ever be grateful to my mother, who, when she took up this religion, enrolled me as a small child in the Christian Science Sunday School.
