Testimonies of Healing

Materialism seemed very real to me until I found, through Christian Science, the sunlight of Truth, which dispelled the false beliefs of fear, disease, and uncertainty that had been with me since childhood. In my early years I had belonged to a Protestant church, but I had not had a clear concept of God.

My mother became interested in Christian Science when I was a little girl, and f received the blessings of her knowledge and utilization of this truth. I am afraid I just used Christian Science to help me out of difficulties without any thought of becoming a sincere student.

In my desk is a Christian Science Quarterly with Bible Lessons for April, May, June, 1908, which was the year that I began my study of Christian Science. For over half a century this Science has been my great comfort and strength.

Christian Science is leading humanity out of its mortal beliefs of inharmony, sin, disease, and death into a recognition of God's reign of complete harmony. When the first faint glimpse of this truth was made manifest in my consciousness, I was healed of the smoking habit of long standing and of the desire for alcoholic drink, which was fast becoming a serious problem.

In establishing The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science, our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, provided us with the opportunity to give written public testimony to the healing power of God. Because I have been helped by reading of the healings of others for many years, I should like to express my gratitude and share some of my healings.

In the Bible we read ( Isa. 30:21 ), "Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

This testimony is lovingly submitted with the fervent hope that it may benefit readers in the same measure that I have been benefited by reading many testimonies in our periodicals. My parents were introduced to Christian Science by a beloved aunt and an uncle of my father, who were devout students of this Science.

Over twenty-three years ago my testimony appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel, and since then many healings have taken place for which I am deeply grateful. One Christmas shortly after I took up the study of this Science, I went to my parents' home.

A testimony in which I wish to thank God for what Christian Science has done for me and for my family is long overdue. I have enjoyed its benefits since birth.

It is thirty-one years since I began to study Christian Science. Now I feel impelled to express my gratitude to God for a healing for which I had to wait patiently for eight years.
