Testimonies of Healing

In Proverbs we read ( 16:1 ), "The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord. " I can truthfully state that my heart was prepared to receive Christ, Truth, when Christian Science came to me, for I had reached a state in human existence where nothing that the material senses offered could satisfy my longing to know God and His purpose for man.

In the Preface of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy says ( p. vii ): "It is the task of the sturdy pioneer to hew the tall oak and to cut the rough granite.

Many outstanding healings took place in our home after Christian Science was introduced to my parents. A severe case of rheumatism was overcome through Christian Science treatment after the doctors had given up the case as incurable.

My gratitude for Christian Science grows daily as I experience the rich, spiritual rewards of studying and living its teachings to the best of my understanding. Christian Science was recommended to me in 1945 by my parents, who had just become interested in this religion.

When I was a child, Christian Science was presented to my mother on the day the doctor said that she could not possibly live through the night. For many years she had suffered from pellagra, but that day a Christian Science practitioner was called, and my mother was instantaneously healed.

Since childhood Christian Science has brought many blessings into my experience. While still in school I had a very beautiful healing of a goiter that had troubled me for some time.

From the bottom of my heart I thank God for Christian Science. I have received guidance, protection, and many blessings through the study and application of this wonderful and practical religion.

For twenty-one years I have had many blessings through the study and application of Christian Science. Encouraged by the Christly example of a neighbor who let her light shine, I began the study of Christian Science; and with the help of a practitioner, harmony at once began to replace discord in my experience.

It is such a joy to know that I walk with God, along with the ever-increasing multitude of loyal Christian Scientists whose love, gratitude, and devotion to the Cause of Christian Science blend with my own in demonstrated unity of good. For all who have named the name of Christian Science and love it, I am most grateful.

I have for so long gained inspiration and encouragement from the testimonies of others that I now wish to give thanks for all that Christian Science has meant to my family and to myself. When I look back over the years and see how divine Love has continually guided, healed, and protected me, I am filled with gratitude for the inestimable blessing of knowing even a little of this Science, which is so clearly the promised Comforter.
