Testimonies of Healing

It is always a happy moment when the revealing statement is made, many times by a stranger, "You must be a Christian Scientist!" I am glad to say that I have heard this remark at various times during my business experience. After many years in the sale of steel, I accepted a position in an allied business as a designing engineer and estimator with a consulting engineering firm in which I had worked fourteen years previously for a period of about a year.

At a Wednesday testimony meeting, a student of Christian Science related that another student had asked him why more testimonies of healing from his particular city did not appear in the Christian Science periodicals. The first student replied, "Have you written and submitted yours?" This remark awakened me to the realization that I had had numerous proofs of healing through the application of Christian Science and that I too had been very lax in setting forth my gratitude in writing so that readers of our beloved periodicals could learn of these healings and thereby be encouraged.

I wish to acknowledge my gratitude for the many blessings I have received since I began the study of Christian Science about thirty-five years ago. Early in life I wondered why in time of need my prayers failed to help me.

Reading the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals has meant so very much to me that I should like to add my contribution so that I might aid in encouraging others along the way of perfect peace and happiness. Having been raised in a home where Christian Science was studied and practiced, I had no knowledge of what it was to be without its loving, protecting care.

I should like to tell of how Christian Science helped me as a college student, and I hope that it may be helpful to others who are students. Before I knew anything about this religion, I had taken a college intelligence test, and I had been informed that the results of the examination indicated that I would never be more than an average, or C, student.

Christian Science has been my comforter for thirty years. From the start, I have faithfully studied the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly.

After being out of the business world for about ten years, I found it necessary to return to work. I regretted having to be away from my children and my home, and I feared that I could not competently fill a position after being absent from the business world.

I am deeply grateful to be numbered among the thousands who have been healed, uplifted, and blessed beyond measure by Christian Science. As a boy of seventeen or eighteen I attended the Christian Science Sunday School briefly, but I drifted away from the consistent practice of the truths taught there.

Often in my daily rounds I mentally declare, "I am so grateful. " Therefore I decided to analyze my thinking and find out what prompted this declaration.

Since my testimony appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel of January 17, 1953, I have enjoyed wonderful health and have not had a day in bed. Also I have had the priceless privilege of class instruction, which has indeed been to me the pearl of great price.
