Testimonies of Healing
" Man is the expression of God's being. " This quotation from page 470 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, changed the whole course of my life.
Gratitude for Christian Science impels me to write this testimony in the hope that it may help others. Not only am I grateful for my health and well-being, maintained through the teachings of this Science, but also for the fact that Science has brought mankind a clearer understanding of God, enabling them to prove the Master's words ( John 8:31, 32 ), "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
"I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation" ( Ps. 118:21 ).
Christian Science has done so much for me and mine that it is hard to know where I should begin in telling of our blessings. It has been my only physician for over thirty years, during which time I have felt its protecting power constantly.
More than twenty-five years ago I wrote a testimony which appeared in the Journal. Since that time I have had many demonstrations of the truth that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" ( Science and Health by Mrs.
One day over twenty years ago I became ill at my place of employment and was about to leave for home when a kind friend and colleague asked me if I would like to read something about Christian Science. I agreed to do so, although I could not understand how reading could help me.
With a heart full of joy I wish to acknowledge that for over half a century I have been blessed by God's sustaining power. I have reared my family in Christian Science, and now they in turn are teaching their children the same truth.
Our family has had such effective proof of God's guidance, in addition to physical healings, that I wish to share two of our experiences, which I hope will encourage others to trust in God. About two years ago I flew from our home in New York to a western city to attend my annual association meeting.
Although from infancy I was brought up in Christian Science, it has only been in the last few years that I have realized what a constant help this religion is. Some time ago I traveled with a group which was presenting a summer theater production.
" Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? who can shew forth all his praise?" ( Ps. 106:2 ).
