Testimonies of Healing
Christian Science has been my comforter for thirty years. From the start, I have faithfully studied the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly.
After being out of the business world for about ten years, I found it necessary to return to work. I regretted having to be away from my children and my home, and I feared that I could not competently fill a position after being absent from the business world.
I am deeply grateful to be numbered among the thousands who have been healed, uplifted, and blessed beyond measure by Christian Science. As a boy of seventeen or eighteen I attended the Christian Science Sunday School briefly, but I drifted away from the consistent practice of the truths taught there.
Often in my daily rounds I mentally declare, "I am so grateful. " Therefore I decided to analyze my thinking and find out what prompted this declaration.
Since my testimony appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel of January 17, 1953, I have enjoyed wonderful health and have not had a day in bed. Also I have had the priceless privilege of class instruction, which has indeed been to me the pearl of great price.
I have received so much inspiration and help from reading the testimonies in our Christian Science periodicals that I should like to share a few of my own healing experiences. I accepted the invitation of a relative to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist.
In the Christian Science Sentinel for February 3, 1951, a testimony of mine appeared, and I am happy to state that all the healings mentioned in it have remained permanent. The sinus trouble and allergy irritations have never returned, and I have, with no harmful results and with no inclination to overweight, continued to enjoy all foods.
While living in another city some years ago, I had reached the proverbial end of the rope and knew not how or where to turn for help. A dear neighbor introduced me to Christian Science; and I began the study, and this led me to membership in a branch church.
A little over twenty years ago I was literally penniless. My home was mortgaged, and I was entirely without income.
It is with an ever-deepening sense of gratitude that I should like to share with others an experience which has veritably proved to be a staff on which to lean. After months of consecrated prayer, which resulted in the overcoming of what had appeared to be insurmountable obstacles, I was led to apply for class instruction from a teacher of Christian Science whose class and association were held in the United States.
