Testimonies of Healing
" The 'divine ear' is not an auditory nerve. It is the all-hearing and all-knowing Mind, to whom each need of man is always known and by whom it will be supplied.
" I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" ( John 10:10 ). These words of Christ Jesus prompt me to write this testimony in the hope that it will help others.
It is my desire to express my gratitude publicly for a healing I received a number of years ago. Since reading Mrs.
Christian Science found me, a few years after the First World War, ruined financially, suffering badly from neurasthenia and claustrophobia, and a prey to constant fears for the health of our two surviving children. This acute anxiety had been brought on by the passing on of our eldest child.
This is a joyful opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to God for Christian Science. In 1927, I became interested in this Science and with the encouragement of a cousin began to study it.
I am truly grateful for Christian Science. Through the years since I became a student of this wonderful teaching, I have had many healings.
We have had so many wonderful healings in Christian Science and have been blessed with so much good that my expression of gratitude is long overdue. This Science came into my life about twelve years ago when my husband, who had attended a Christian Science Sunday School as a boy, decided to return to the church of his youth, and I went with him.
" Are we really grateful for the good already received?" asks Mary Baker Eddy on page 3 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. " This probing question has aroused in me the desire to write an expression of gratitude for what Christian Science has meant in my experience.
As I lay ill with fever one day, worrying about my health and about many other problems, I was seized with deep despair. I felt that life was so hard to live, not only for me, but for thousands of people who were much worse off than I was.
Those of us who have had Christian Science all our lives know that no one is ever "born" a Christian Scientist. Such a one still must learn to use effectively the truths which he has been taught and to adhere to divine Principle, God.
