Testimonies of Healing

I would like to testify to a healing in which the structure of my body was changed through spiritual means alone. This healing took place after I was thirty years of age.

The testimonies in our periodicals have always been the source of much inspiration and healing to me. Now I too would like to add my testimony to those from many parts of the world who are giving voice to the healing effects of Christian Science.

I can remember the comfort which Christian Science brought to our home when I was a child, and through my early years I felt wrapped in a kind of protective covering, which was what Christian Science meant to me. It was during my college experience that I began to prove that Christian Science is actually usable in everyday living, for then I had the opportunity of instruction in The Mother Church Sunday School and the guidance of a selfless practitioner.

My first healing in Christian Science came when I was in my late teens and after I had attended Sunday School about one year. I was taken ill quite suddenly and could not stand up straight.

It is my desire to express my humble gratitude for the many healings my family and I have experienced through the study and application of Christian Science. I have known of Science from childhood, and one of my first healings was as follows.

The acknowledgment of our blessings is so much a part of Christian Science that I feel impelled to tell of the help it has been to me. When I was widowed and left with a small son to raise, I returned to my parents' home.

When I read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for the first time, I was greatly impressed by the allegory of the court case, given on pages 430-442. A few years later, while in a foreign country, I had an opportunity to prove the efficacy and logic of this Science during the tangles of a lawsuit.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to God for Christian Science and for the transformation it has brought into my life. When I was quite young, I became a member of an orthodox church.

The first physical healing I witnessed in Christian Science has been a continuous source of spiritual inspiration and joy, for it clearly proved that God is the healer of disease. When my daughter was in kindergarten, she had a severe case of scarlet fever, and many complications followed, including sinus infection and chronic bronchitis.

In 1917, when there was an epidemic of infantile paralysis, I was in great fear for my three children. I then remembered that a friend had told me of Christian Science healings in her family through reading a certain book.
