Testimonies of Healing
Mary Baker Eddy says in Science and Health ( Pref. , p.
" Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul" ( Ps. 66:16 ).
It is quite impossible fully to express my gratitude to God for our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, through whose untiring efforts Christian Science was given to a waiting world. There have been numerous healings in our family when we have turned to God for guidance as we are taught to do in Christian Science.
When I was a small child, my mother was healed in Christian Science of a severe nervous illness which followed the passing of my father. She became an earnest student, and I had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School until I reached the age of twenty.
I found my way to Christian Science, as it were, through the back door. My wife became interested in it for relief from physical problems which were troubling her.
Although my husband was a Christian Scientist and had had two outstanding healings of conditions which had been declared incurable, I had felt no real urge to investigate Christian Science until after our second daughter was born. At one time she became ill with a severe cold, which fast developed into croup.
" Oh Lord , thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth" (Isa. 25:1).
In gratitude to God for the healing efficacy of Christian Science I submit this testimony. My mother was a sincere student of Christian Science, and I received the benefit of her love, joy, and understanding of God's ever-presence.
It is with deep gratitude for the discovery and founding of Christian Science by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that I give this testimony of the healing of the alcohol, tobacco, and coffee habits. I was introduced to Christian Science about ten years ago when I was in great financial need.
I became interested in Christian Science in this manner: As a young man I was working as a salesman in a men's clothing store. I became ill with a nervous condition that often necessitated my asking leave to go home, many times as early as ten o'clock in the morning.
