Testimonies of Healing
" Oh Lord , thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth" (Isa. 25:1).
In gratitude to God for the healing efficacy of Christian Science I submit this testimony. My mother was a sincere student of Christian Science, and I received the benefit of her love, joy, and understanding of God's ever-presence.
It is with deep gratitude for the discovery and founding of Christian Science by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that I give this testimony of the healing of the alcohol, tobacco, and coffee habits. I was introduced to Christian Science about ten years ago when I was in great financial need.
I became interested in Christian Science in this manner: As a young man I was working as a salesman in a men's clothing store. I became ill with a nervous condition that often necessitated my asking leave to go home, many times as early as ten o'clock in the morning.
" Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name" ( Ps. 103:1 ).
" The kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it" ( Matt. 13:45, 46 ).
In "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," Mary Baker Eddy lovingly tells us (pp. 149, 150) : "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee.
Words cannot adequately express the depth of the gratitude in my heart for Christian Science. I have found that Truth, understood, affirmed, and adhered to, proves God's omnipotence and ever-presence.
" It is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light" ( Rom.
So much of good has come to our family through our understanding of Christian Science since my testimony was published in the Journal of October, 1944, that I have felt withholding of further testimony was not in obedience to the command ( Mai. 3:10 ), "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse.
