Testimonies of Healing
After I began the earnest study of Mary Baker Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," my uncertain beliefs of God and man began to change, regeneration began, and as a result of purified thought I was healed of a number of physical diseases, such as neuritis, lumbago, ulcers, neuralgia, and pleurisy. Hopelessness and despair gave way as I gained a better understanding of man as the image of Love.
It is with a sincere desire that my testimony may be a help to some of the men and women who believe that they must go out and "make" a living that I relate my experience. Many years ago I learned that one's place is not always of one's own choosing, but is the result of a willingness to let God's will be done.
" To-day my soul can only sing and soar. An increasing sense of God's love, omnipresence, and omnipotence enfolds me.
" I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten" ( Joel 2:25 ). These words best express what Christian Science has done for me.
It would take pages to tell of all the healings of discord and disease that I have experienced through the application of the truth, as revealed to us in Christian Science, and for which I am profoundly grateful. One healing which blessed many came through the working out of a problem in human relationships.
During nearly two decades, Christian Science has been my faithful companion. It has given me a more spiritual understanding of God and of man as His expression.
I should like to express my gratitude to God for some understanding of the words of Christ Jesus when he said to Nicodemus ( John 3:3 ), "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. " This process of regeneration has changed my life from one of sin, sickness, and despair, into one of purpose, health, and joy.
When Christian Science came into my life, I was at a low ebb. An attending physician had informed me that I could expect no more than a life of invalidism.
Clear evidence of the harmonious action of infinite Mind was seen in an experience which occurred toward the end of my trip abroad in the summer of 1952. I had booked passage on a cargo ship which was scheduled to leave Hamburg, Germany, on September 3 or 4.
I am grateful for the coming into my life of a Christian Science student who demonstrated in daily living that this Science has something for mankind which cannot be found anywhere else. After I had been studying Science and attending a branch church for some time, the invitation to apply for church membership, which was read from the desk, found me wanting to apply, but doubting my readiness and worthiness to take this step.
