Testimonies of Healing
It is with the deepest sense of gratitude for Christian Science and for Mary Baker Eddy, the divinely inspired revelator of Truth to this age, that I offer this testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. This Science came into my experience at a time of urgent need.
My first healing in Christian Science was that of a goiter of long standing and was effected entirely by my reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I was wholly unfamiliar with Christian Science until an acquaintance gave me some of the literature and told me of a healing she had received.
Each day of my life I have a renewed sense of gratitude for Christian Science and for the many blessings and healings I have experienced. I found this religion when I was facing a surgical operation, and the explanations of a Christian Science practitioner who was called upon for help were so clear to me that I felt God could do all that was needed.
I want to express my gratitude to God for Christian Science and for the many blessings that I have received since I became a student of it. I have been healed of headaches, colds, and biliousness, as well as of the smoking habit.
I have often wanted to express through the periodicals my heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for discovering and giving to the world Christian Science, the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus.
In thinking over the reasons I have for being grateful for Christian Science, I can list a multitude. Among them are numerous instances of God's care, the healing of discordant conditions, protection, the finding of apartments during wartime years, and the ability to do some things well.
After I began the earnest study of Mary Baker Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," my uncertain beliefs of God and man began to change, regeneration began, and as a result of purified thought I was healed of a number of physical diseases, such as neuritis, lumbago, ulcers, neuralgia, and pleurisy. Hopelessness and despair gave way as I gained a better understanding of man as the image of Love.
It is with a sincere desire that my testimony may be a help to some of the men and women who believe that they must go out and "make" a living that I relate my experience. Many years ago I learned that one's place is not always of one's own choosing, but is the result of a willingness to let God's will be done.
" To-day my soul can only sing and soar. An increasing sense of God's love, omnipresence, and omnipotence enfolds me.
" I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten" ( Joel 2:25 ). These words best express what Christian Science has done for me.
