Testimonies of Healing
These words from the Bible ( Isa. 26:3 ), "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee," truly describe the result of having one's mind stayed on God.
My last written testimony was published in the Christian Science Sentinel of December 9, 1933. I consider it a privilege and duty to express again my deep appreciation of an understanding of the healing truth that we obtain through the study of our textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as well as through all the other writings of our revered Leader, Mrs.
With a heart full of gratitude to God for the priceless gift of Christian Science, I send this testimony. I wish especially to mention the blessing of class instruction, for as a direct result of it I have had a very beautiful healing of two conditions—obesity and loneliness.
During my school days friends took me occasionally to a Church of Christ, Scientist. There the atmosphere of joy and the testimonies at the Wednesday evening meetings made a deep impression on me, and I hoped that I might some day become a student of Christian Science.
My interest in Christian Science began when it healed my husband of chronic dyspepsia. This healing took place while he was of middle age.
" Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" ( Matt. 12:34 ).
Nearly fifty years ago Christian Science was brought to my attention. Feeling in great need of help to overcome fear and worry, I asked for aid from a Christian Science practitioner and received immediate freedom from these beliefs.
My attention was first directed to Christian Science during my stay in Paris in 1925, and I resolved at once to become better acquainted with it. My plan to return to my homeland, Estonia, was changed, and I stayed in Paris for several months in order to study this wonderful Science.
In Psalms we read ( 51:15 ), "O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. " It is my hope that this testimony will show forth God's praise.
As I look back over my past ten years in Christian Science, gratitude floods my thought, for my blessings have been many. Shortly after my induction into the armed forces, just prior to the outbreak of the Second World War, I was taken suddenly ill at basic training camp with a condition of spinal meningitis and lobar pneumonia so grave that the family was summoned to my bedside.
