Testimonies of Healing

I have had many wonderful proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science; but I am beginning to realize that the appreciation which I have often voiced at our Wednesday testimony meetings will not be fully expressed until I have availed myself of the privilege of expressing it through our authorized periodicals. An outstanding healing for which I am most grateful occurred a few years ago.

This testimony is long overdue. Early in 1914 I rented a room in the home of a student of Christian Science.

Christian Science was presented to me in 1938 by my mother, who had been a Scientist for a long time. I was then in despair over a physical condition which the treatments of several doctors had failed to cure.

Although I have given many testimonies at Wednesday meetings, I have never yet given a written testimony, and as I have been a recipient for about twenty-five years of the many blessings that Christian Science brings to its students, I feel it is time that this step be taken. Christian Science has been my guide and support through all the years since I first began to understand the teachings of our revered Leader, Mrs.

Through the understanding and application of Christian Science our family has for many years enjoyed the freedom and blessings which Christian Science offers to mankind; and it is with much gratitude that I wish to testify regarding a few of our experiences. More than fifty years ago my father's sister was healed of a very serious condition of blood poisoning.

My first healing in Christian Science was of a disease which the doctors called incurable. For a year and a half I had medical treatment, but since no progress was made, I was sent to a large city for a special examination.

I was reared in a Christian home where I was taught to love God, and when quite young I became a member of an orthodox church. But when my husband passed on, leaving me with four children, I found myself seeking God's presence in vain; He seemed so near, yet so far away.

It is with a grateful heart that I offer this testimony of the healing truth of Christian Science. About twenty years ago, while suffering from what the medical profession had called a nervous breakdown, I took up the daily study of Christian Science and was healed.

The testimonies in the periodicals have been very helpful to me, and I feel it is time that I expressed my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me throughout the years since I began the study of this great religion. Many years ago a sincere and prayerful desire to know the truth and to understand God was answered by my being led to Christian Science.

The realization that all is mental, which grows clearer day by day to the student of Christian Science, brings into view wonderful revelations of God's great love and the recognition that healing is a mental experience, a rising above the ignorance of material sense into the enlightenment of pure spiritual sense.
