Testimonies of Healing

Although I have expressed my heartfelt gratitude many times for the healing power of Christian Science, I have not yet done so through the medium of our periodicals. My first healing came before I started reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

I am giving this testimony with the hope that it may help someone else. Eighteen years ago our youngest daughter, then, eight years of age, passed on.

A dear member of our immediate family who had suffered for more than forty years sought relief in Christian Science. He required my assistance when attending the services in a Church of Christ, Scientist, and this was my introduction to Christian Science.

One day, soon after I had become interested in Christian Science, my five-year-old son went into a coma. When he had been in this state for nearly twenty-four hours I became alarmed and called upon a friend to wire a Christian Science practitioner for help.

My first contact with Christian Science was an invitation to accompany a neighboring family to a nearby town and visit the Christian Science Sunday School there. This led to my regular attendance at the Sunday School, which in turn led to membership in a branch church when my family moved to a larger city.

One year as the Christmas season drew near I felt the need of divine guidance before starting on a shopping tour. In opening a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel, I found it was dated February 24, 1945.

For many years the testimonies in the periodicals have been a great help to me. I should like to add mine in the hope that others may be blessed as I have been by the reading of the testimonies.

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes ( p. 135 ): "There is to-day danger of repeating the offence of the Jews by limiting the Holy One of Israel and asking: 'Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?' What cannot God do?" Over a period of nearly thirty years I have found that there is nothing God cannot and will not do if we turn unreservedly to Him.

" One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts" ( Ps. 145:4 ).

In heartfelt gratitude to God I wish to acknowledge publicly a few of the many blessings He has bestowed on me through my study of Christian Science. This is done with the hope that someone needing this particular testimony may be encouraged and benefited.
