Testimonies of Healing

From the earliest time I remember I knew only pain and suffering from heart trouble and various complications. My parents, who were good Christians, lovingly did everything they could to help me through medical science.

For more than forty years I was a smoker. During that period I faced all the arguments for and against the habit.

A few days before my marriage I was suddenly attacked by a nervous condition in the forehead and eyes. After two days I asked the help of a Christian Science practitioner, and work was taken up; but the condition continued.

Healing in Christian Science is wonderful, and the relief from sickness, grief, lack, and fear is very welcome indeed. Yet we sometimes take our healings for granted and forget to speak or write of them.

I wish to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has meant to me for over thirty-five years. I became interested in this Science through a healing I had when I was ten years old, and from that time it has been wholly relied on and has met my every need when correctly applied.

The importance of Mary Baker Eddy's poem beginning with the words "Shepherd, show me how to go" (Poems, p. 14 ) was not made clear to me until I realized that man must manifest life not death.

It is with joy and gratitude in my heart that I write this testimony, hoping that it may bless others as I have been blessed. Almost thirty years ago Christian Science was brought to my attention through the instantaneous healing of my mother.

I became a student of Christian Science after it healed me of an eye injury. Because of this injury I was sent by the firm I worked for to an eye specialist.

The coming of Christian Science into my experience was like beautiful sunshine entering a dark room. For over twenty-four years it has comforted, strengthened, corrected, uplifted, and guided me, and in the process it has brought many healings.

Christian Science has helped me to see good everywhere. In seeing good, we are seeing the ever-presence of God.
