Testimonies of Healing

When our youngest daughter was twelve years old, she was stricken with rheumatic fever in its worst form. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and work was taken up.

I have had many proofs of God's protecting and sustaining power and of the Bible promise ( Prov. 3:6 ), "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

When we are ready for Truth, we find it. Such was my experience.

" Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me" ( John 14:1 ). Several years ago I came to a point in my life where it seemed there was no use in trying to go on.

Truth embodied in daily living shines of itself and is a guide to the uninstructed human thought turning Spiritward. Some years ago I became friendly with a family whom I knew to be students of Christian Science, and I recognized that there was something intangible, but wholly good, which governed their household.

Christian Science came into our home during my early childhood through the healing of my invalid mother, who had, in the words of the Bible ( Mark 5:26 ), "suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse. " When the physicians told my father that her condition was incurable and that they had done all they could to relieve her, he asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner in a nearby city.

The fact that Christian Science, rightly applied, will heal any discordant condition has been proved to me upon many occasions, and I am profoundly grateful. I had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School from the age of four, and for this foundation in the truth I shall ever be grateful.

Over thirty years ago I enrolled our two children in the Christian Science Sunday School, and during all this time we have had many healings. Chronic indigestion and hay fever disappeared through my reading of Science and Health by Mrs.

I want to express my deep gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy for explaining Christian Science to us in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. " When my husband suddenly passed on, through my understanding of Christian Science I was conscious of the allness of God and realized that there is no separation in Mind.

I have always wondered, since I had class instruction, why gratitude for this glorious experience is usually the last rather than the first statement of most Christian Science testimonies. To me class instruction has been the greatest blessing that has come to me since I first started the study of Christian Science more than thirty years ago.
