Testimonies of Healing
Christian Science came into our home during my early childhood through the healing of my invalid mother, who had, in the words of the Bible ( Mark 5:26 ), "suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse. " When the physicians told my father that her condition was incurable and that they had done all they could to relieve her, he asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner in a nearby city.
The fact that Christian Science, rightly applied, will heal any discordant condition has been proved to me upon many occasions, and I am profoundly grateful. I had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School from the age of four, and for this foundation in the truth I shall ever be grateful.
Over thirty years ago I enrolled our two children in the Christian Science Sunday School, and during all this time we have had many healings. Chronic indigestion and hay fever disappeared through my reading of Science and Health by Mrs.
I want to express my deep gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy for explaining Christian Science to us in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. " When my husband suddenly passed on, through my understanding of Christian Science I was conscious of the allness of God and realized that there is no separation in Mind.
I have always wondered, since I had class instruction, why gratitude for this glorious experience is usually the last rather than the first statement of most Christian Science testimonies. To me class instruction has been the greatest blessing that has come to me since I first started the study of Christian Science more than thirty years ago.
For a long time I have wanted to express through our periodicals my gratitude to God for Christian Science. On many an occasion when I have been in the depths of despair, with no human hand to help, a testimony from the Journal or the Christian Science Sentinel has given me courage and renewed faith to press on.
I first became interested in the teachings of Christian Science in 1910. At this time I was an earnest member of a Protestant church and a worker in several of its activities.
In the words of the Psalmist ( Ps. 3:4 ), "I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill.
On page 574 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read, "The very circumstance, which your suffering sense deems wrathful and afflictive, Love can make an angel entertained unawares.
Mrs. Eddy says on page 571 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Know thyself, and God will supply the wisdom and the occasion for a victory over evil.
