Testimonies of Healing

What has been done for me by a correct concept of God as revealed through Christian Science can best be described in the words of the fortieth Psalm: "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God.

Since 1936 it has been my privilege to receive many blessings from the study and practice of Christian Science. Through these years my physical healings have been many and include the overcoming of headaches, influenza, colds, sprained knee, skin irritation, dislocated jaw, and an impacted wisdom tooth.

I became interested in Christian Science through reading a series of articles that were published in a well-known magazine many years ago. These articles were called "Christian Science Exposed.

In Ephesians ( 2:8 ) Paul writes, "By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. " It was by God's grace that Christian Science was presented to me through the journal and Christian Science Sentinel when I had reached my mental and physical extremity.

For a long time I have wanted to express through our periodicals my gratitude to God for Christian Science. On many an occasion when I have been in the depths of despair, with no human hand to help, a testimony from the Journal or the Christian Science Sentinel has given me courage and renewed faith to press on.

Through the healing of a sister of the necessity for a surgical operation, I was led to investigate Christian Science. I needed something to cling to, for the church of which I was an active member had not met my need.

For the many blessings received through the study of Christian Science, I desire to express my deep and heartfelt gratitude. Within three days after I first started to read our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was healed of chronic sick headaches which had held me in bondage since I was a boy four or five years of age.

For several years I had attended the Sunday School of an informal group of Christian Scientists near my home and had been very happy there. Then there came a day when mortal mind claimed most insistently that I was ill.

Since the appearance of my first testimony in the Christian Science Sentinel of January 1, 1938, I have had many further proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science. About nine years ago I noted an article in The Christian Science Monitor about a woman attorney with whom I had had some contact in a position I had held a few years before.

" Owe no man any thing, but to love one another" ( Rom. 13:8 ).
