Testimonies of Healing
I have been a student of Christian Science for many years, but it was only when I awakened to the privilege of availing myself of the blessing of class instruction that I made my most rapid growth Spiritward. Heretofore I had served in a small way in church activity, but now I know I am of much more value to my church, my services have brought me a far greater joy and peace, and I have made much spiritual progress.
" I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings" ( Ps.
I am grateful for the gift of Christian Science given us by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health and her other writings, for her founding of the Church and for the Church Manual she provides for its government.
It was thirty-nine years ago that I received my first healing in Christian Science. While suffering from what the doctors called appendicitis, I was told that I would have to be operated upon.
In my quest to find the only true God I was led to investigate Christian Science, which I did by reading through several times the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Then, knowing that it is the truth, I applied for membership in a Christian Science Society.
Over thirty years ago I first felt the healing and redeeming power of Truth as revealed in Christian Science. Many and varied are the blessings that have been mine in the intervening years, but the most important has been the healing of a belief in and fear of heredity.
When I first attended Christian Science services, I was suffering from neurasthenia and had been under the doctor's care for a long time. I was not seeking help for myself, but went with my mother, who was suffering from a liver disorder which was later healed through Science treatment.
Over thirty years ago I asked an uncle of mine to take me to the Christian Science Sunday School. I was a very religious young person, and I liked the way he talked about God.
It is difficult to know where to begin to express gratitude for Christian Science. For many years it has been my only physician, and not a day goes by that I do not say, "Thank You, God," for some further proof of His love and ever-presence.
Christian Science has brought me more blessings than I can ever relate. But I wish to tell of a few of my healings, with a hope that someone may benefit by my experiences.
