Testimonies of Healing
Over thirty years ago I first felt the healing and redeeming power of Truth as revealed in Christian Science. Many and varied are the blessings that have been mine in the intervening years, but the most important has been the healing of a belief in and fear of heredity.
When I first attended Christian Science services, I was suffering from neurasthenia and had been under the doctor's care for a long time. I was not seeking help for myself, but went with my mother, who was suffering from a liver disorder which was later healed through Science treatment.
Over thirty years ago I asked an uncle of mine to take me to the Christian Science Sunday School. I was a very religious young person, and I liked the way he talked about God.
It is difficult to know where to begin to express gratitude for Christian Science. For many years it has been my only physician, and not a day goes by that I do not say, "Thank You, God," for some further proof of His love and ever-presence.
Christian Science has brought me more blessings than I can ever relate. But I wish to tell of a few of my healings, with a hope that someone may benefit by my experiences.
Christian Science has brought me good health a truer outlook on life, more love, patience, and courage, and great peace of mind. During the past thirty-two years I have never called a physician in any emergency of illness or accident.
One day as I read the testimonies in the Christian Science Sentinel, this thought came to me: If those who have enjoyed the blessings of Christian Science and experienced beautiful healings, as I have, do not write testimonies for publication, there may not be sufficient testimonies to meet the need of the periodicals. So I decided to send my testimony in immediately.
A testimony I read in the March, 1947, issue of The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition) prompted me to submit mine. I too was healed by a study of the definition of "sun" on page 595 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
As I have experienced so much help and encouragement on countless occasions through reading testimonies in our periodicals, I feel I must put my gratitude into action and send in my long-overdue testimony. I took up the study of Christian Science over twenty years ago while trying to find help for my mother, who was suffering mentally and was in fear of having to be taken to a mental home At that time I was a worker in an orthodox church, and my concept of God was that of a mysterious, corporeal man.
Over twenty years ago I had pernicious anemia. The doctors at a well-known medical clinic told me, after exhaustive examinations, that I was in the last stages of the disease and that there was no record in medical history of recovery from such a condition.
