Testimonies of Healing
It is with a heart filled with joy and gratitude to God for the Bible, Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that I give this testimony. Over half a century ago my mother was instantaneously healed of a discordant condition which no physician had been able to heal in years of trying.
For several years I have experienced the healing and blessings which come to us when we earnestly study and apply the rules of Christian Science. This Science was presented to me when I was very much in need of it, but I did not depend on it entirely for healing.
Christian Science is the greatest blessing in my life. Having always enjoyed good health, I did not seek Truth for physical healing.
A deep sense of gratitude and joy is mine as I recall a beautiful healing of what the medical profession would call blood poisoning. While I was working on the hedge in the yard a thorn lodged in my thumb.
I am deeply grateful for Christian Science. It has met my every need.
For all the blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science, I am sincerely grateful. Before coming into Christian Science, whenever something unusually pleasant came into my experience, I always thought it was too good to be true.
It is now many years since Christian Science brought to me that which I was seeking—a God whom I could intelligently worship. I have found in this Science the answer to all my questions.
Several years have passed since my first testimony was published. During these years many additional proofs of the healing power of Truth have come into my experience, and I am most grateful for continued growth in Christian Science.
With a sincere desire that the following testimony may be helpful to others, I should like to relate a few of the experiences I have had during my study of Christian Science. While taking an active part in the work of an orthodox church, I started to attend the services of the Christian Science church in our city on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
There is a hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 146) which reads, in part, as follows: In God I find a precious gift That knows no fear, no feud, That glows so still, serene and pure: The gift of gratitude.
