Testimonies of Healing

I have derived so much good from the testimonies in our periodicals that I wish to give mine, with the hope that it may help others. As our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" ( p.

I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings I have received as a student of Christian Science. I first took up Christian Science to refute what I thought was unjust reprimand on the part of an aunt, who had been helping my mother in Science.

Christian Science has been the only physician in our home for more than twenty-five years, and many and varied have been the problems solved through its beneficent influence. Within the first year after turning to Science I was healed of the need of wearing glasses, of headaches, constipation, and nervousness accompanied by an almost overwhelming fear—fear of the future, of being alone, of meeting people, and of the darkness.

I have proved in my own experience that love and gratitude are a sure defense against error of every kind. I should like to tell two incidents that illustrate this.

In 1916 Christian Science was presented to me and I read the textbook eagerly because my need was great. My daughter, then ten years old, had suffered since babyhood from ozena, a so-called incurable disease, and had been given up to die.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude for blessings received that I wish to make public acknowledgment of my appreciation of Christian Science. Thirty-six years ago I was sick and unhappy because of an incurable disease which I had been told would, in a comparatively short length of time, end my days.

Eight months in the New Guinea area have given me much time for reflection, and I have realized more clearly than ever before the protection, power, and love bestowed on man by God, as revealed in Christian Science. The knowledge of man's oneness with Him has been a protection against fear, heat, mosquitoes, resentment, homesickness, drowsiness, and many other erroneous beliefs that appear to flourish in the jungles.

The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, has always had a place in our home. However, it is only during the last few years that the "key" to the Scriptures, and the clear presentation of eternal Truth contained in the textbook, have been applied to improve family relations, business opportunities, and further individual progress.

I Should like to express my thanks to God for His goodness. For the twenty-six years during which we have enjoyed the blessings of Christian Science, He has met our every need.

The events accompanying my spiritual rebirth have been many and varied, and the healing efficacy of Christian Science has manifested itself abundantly in my experience. I am grateful to God for His beloved Son, Christ Jesus, the Wayshower.
