Testimonies of Healing

My wife and I had been looking forward to a Christian Science lecture, which was to be given in the branch church of which we are both members. Halfway through the lecture, however, I had the feeling of sleep coming over me.

In gratitude for the many healings I have received through the understanding and application of Christian Science, I want to tell the following experiences. In the summer of 1943, while visiting relatives in one of the southern states, I was healed of the sting of a scorpion.

It is with a profound sense of gratitude and the hope that it may bring encouragement to others, that I submit the following testimony of the healing of neurasthenia through the ministrations of Christian Science. This condition threatened to bring much unhappiness and limitation into my life, and to cause great worry to those whom I most wished to help.

One winter I was a hundred miles from Wednesday evening testimony meetings. This led me to a greater appreciation of the testimonies in our periodicals, and gave me the impetus to express my thankfulness for Christian Science.

The statement on page 449 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, "A grain of Christian Science does wonders for mortals, so omnipotent is Truth, but more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing," was proved early in my study. I was healed in six months of chronic rheumatism after suffering for seven years.

Whenever I hear read from the desk of a Christian Science church the account of Jesus' healing of the ten lepers, I am reminded of an experience of mine which occurred in 1930, while I was vacationing in the West. One night I attended a concert in a large outdoor bowl.

My first testimony appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel of May, 1919, and once again I wish to express gratitude through the pages of our periodicals. After I married there was much to be worked out, but I found after many setbacks that when Christian Science was properly applied it never failed to meet my need.

My first healing has always been a great inspiration to me, particularly in trying times, for I was completely freed from invalidism of five years' standing. I had sought relief at hot springs and similar places, with no results.

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science, not only because of the healings I have received through its application, but because it is giving me a continually growing understanding of God and His ever-presence and power. Christian Science has met my every need since I began its study.

My gratitude for Christian Science is deep and sincere. I have enjoyed the blessings of our beloved religion for many years.
