Testimonies of Healing

I am sending this testimony as payment on a debt long overdue. I took up the study of Christian Science in the spring of 1918, because of the health of my family and myself.

Although I have been a Christian Scientist since I was a young boy in grade school, it took me a long time to learn to put God first and business second. A practitioner had advised me to attend church more regularly, to put spiritual things first, but I could not see it that way then.

I wish to give thanks for the Christian Science Hymnal. We are indeed blessed in having this golden treasury of song and verse, with each hymn so carefully selected, and chosen for its uplifting message.

For some time the realization that I have enjoyed the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals for over ten years and have not contributed one of my own has made me want to express my gratitude through them. One of my first proofs of the healing power of God as taught in Christian Science was of a carbuncle under my right arm.

Realizing that the most important, the most vitalizing influence in my life has been the teaching of Christian Science, I wish to express my gratitude for the continuous flow of blessings that has come to me through the years. I have always been particularly grateful that the first healings came as the direct result of reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

I have long wished to express gratitude for the blessings and healings resulting from the study of Christian Science. Among the many healings experienced in our home have been those of periodic headache, constipation, broken bones, blood poisoning, contagious diseases, severe burns, and chronic colds; also, invalidism resulting from an injury was healed, though physicians had advised an operation.

Over a period of many years I have been helped and encouraged through the reading of the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals. Many times I have felt the desire to testify to the healing, regenerative, and protective power of Christian Science in my own life.

I wish to express gratitude to God for the benefits I have received from the study and application of Christian Science. Immediately following World War I, after concluding a job of shipbuilding I had contracted to do, it was necessary for me to find another position.

In Psalms 40:10 we read, "I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation. " I have had many proofs of God's righteousness, faithfulness, and loving-kindness, and I am grateful to share a few of them.

It is with much gratitude and joy that I take this opportunity to express my appreciation for Christian Science and for the blessings I have received through it. Science came to me in the darkest hour of my life, when I was without hope, fearful to the extreme, physically ill, and, worst of all, firmly convinced that God did not exist.
