Testimonies of Healing
Because I have been the recipient of so many blessings for the past twenty-two years, all of which have come through the study and application of Christian Science, I wish to express my sincere gratitude for our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. My first healing was the overcoming of sorrow after the sudden passing on of my husband.
I feel that it is time for me again to express through our periodicals my gratitude to God for the blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science. Mrs.
I wish to say how very grateful I am for Christian Science, and for all the joy it has brought me since first I began studying, the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It is about fourteen years since I learned of it through a niece.
I wish to express my gratitude to God for all the good that has come to me and to my family through Christian Science. Many years ago my father was healed of a fistula after an operation and the efforts of several physicians had failed to bring relief.
I should like to testify to my first experiences in the study of Christian Science. The first time I ever saw or heard of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was in August, 1934, at which time I was a practical nurse.
My interest was drawn toward Christian Science because of two healings I witnessed—one of blindness, the other of organic trouble. Before this, I had condemned Christian Science, because I believed that it was based on spiritualism or some peculiar cult.
My first recollection of hearing Christian Science mentioned was when I was a small child and my mother repeated an explanation as given to her, that the material body is not the real man. Many times thereafter, when I was growing up, I pondered that statement and made an effort to reconcile it to reason.
Christian Science came into my life many years ago when a relative stayed with us about two weeks, bringing her Bible, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and some periodicals with her.
Many times I have felt that I should express in writing my gratitude for the numerous proofs of God's care I have had. Now I feel compelled to do so, hoping someone may be helped as I have been by reading the experiences of others.
It has been my privilege to serve my country in both World Wars. In the first war I served in the Navy.
