Testimonies of Healing
It is over thirty years since I first heard of Christian Science. At that time, my father had been ill for a long period with inflammatory rheumatism and heart trouble.
In 1932 I was laboring under the painful experience of an ulcerated stomach and arthritis. I wore a belt with a steel band to keep my back rigid.
I have read the testimony written by my sister-in-law, and should like to verify her many healings. I was healed of heart trouble, of the effects of being run over by a tractor, of sore mouth, and other ailments.
I had known of Christian Science for a number of years, but it was not until I married that I took up its study more seriously and began to put into practice what I knew of Truth. Certain changes and conditions had made me unhappy, and I became melancholy and feared the loss of my reason.
Twenty-three years ago, when I was desperately in need of physical healing, we began the study of Christian Science, after every available means of material help had been tried and my hope of recovery was gone. As a result of two premature childbirths, I was in such a state of nervous collapse that I could not sleep or walk, and could scarcely sit up.
Over thirty years ago, when I first began the study of Christian Science, I sent in a testimony of the healing of a young son, of adenoids and infected tonsils. With deep gratitude I feel impelled to testify again to the wonderful years of harmony that have followed.
In the Bible we read that Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. " Truth, as revealed in Christian Science, has brought me freedom, after doctors had said that I should never again lead an active life.
The Christian Science periodicals have meant so much to me that I wish to express my sincere gratitude for them. They have often met my need through some specific article or testimony.
Before I came into Christian Science I was an avowed atheist. I believed that existence was a matter of chance and circumstance, and that death was the end of it all.
My first big healing in Christian Science took place over forty years ago. I was born cross-eyed, and this defect increased until my eyes were most unsightly to behold.
