Testimonies of Healing
My husband, our four sons, and I have received many healings and blessings through Christian Science. A few years ago, I suddenly felt impelled to work for a son in Canada.
The last lines of one of our hymns express much better than I can how Christian Science came to me: "Thou leadest me by unsought ways, Thou turn'st my mourning into praise. " Truly, it was "by unsought ways," for I had no knowledge of Christian Science nor any desire to learn about it.
In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says ( pp. 476, 477 ), "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals.
Over five years ago I found myself in such a condition that I was unable to go on with my work. When I lay down I was overcome with a choking sensation which seemed to close my throat and prevent my breathing.
Christian Science was brought to me at a time when all that life holds dear—health, happiness, supply, and home—seemed to have been swept from me. Three so-called incurable conditions had left me in a state of helplessness, and I had been told by three prominent physicians that my case was beyond their aid.
It is with a heart full of gratitude for the many blessings Christian Science has brought into our home in the past nine years that I give this testimony. I took up the study of Christian Science for a physical healing.
After twenty years of experiencing proof of God's great goodness to His beloved children, I am writing this testimony. I am grateful to live in an age when, through the purity and courage of Mary Baker Eddy, Christian Science has been given to a needy world.
Christian Science came to me during childhood as a result of my mother's healing of invalidism; and it is a joy to realize that she could not have given me a richer blessing or a more lasting inheritance. When I was a child, this eternal truth brought to me an increase of health and harmony, freedom from fear, and an awakening to man's capabilities which enabled me to be a successful student throughout my school and college life.
I have had so many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science that it is surely time for me to express my gratitude for God's great goodness. When I first heard of Christian Science, I was having electrical treatments and taking six kinds of medicine.
THE healing efficacy of Christian Science has been forcibly proved in my experience. While taking a course in professional education, I was afflicted with epilepsy, and, while I was able to finish my course of study, the erroneous condition appeared to grow upon me to such an extent that I was incapacitated for any work.
