When I was a child, my mother was healed through Christian Science, after she had been given up by the physicians. I was sent to the Christian Science Sunday School, which I attended for many years. I shall always be grateful for this.
When our family was young in the study of Christian Science, the company which employed my father closed its doors, and he was without work. We were beautifully cared for, however. My mother faithfully held to what she knew of Spirit as the source of supply, and realized the truth of the words of Hymn No. 148 in our Christian Science Hymnal, which begins, "In heavenly Love abiding." One day, during the Christmas holidays, we received through the mail an envelope containing an unsigned greeting card and a ten-dollar bill. We all thanked God for this beautiful expression of Love. Very soon after this my father found work in a concern where he has been active for over eighteen years.
In my own experience I have found much for which to express gratitude. I was led to find a good position. While shopping one day, I was approached by two business acquaintances, who asked me if I were working. When I said "No," they offered me a position, which I gladly accepted. During the month that I was unemployed I was declaring the truth as we are taught to do in Christian Science. I constantly held to the thought that I was "about my Father's business." The first verse of Hymn No. 133 in our Christian Science Hymnal was very encouraging:
