Testimonies of Healing
It is my desire to testify to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. I have been a student of this Science for over eight years and have found that when it is correctly applied it never fails to give quick and lasting results.
For the wonderful benefits that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science I desire to express my gratitude to God, whom I have proved to be ever-present Love; to Jesus, who gave us the way of life through expressing that Love; and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who by her humble, consecrated work discovered the truth about God and man in His image. Over thirty years ago I was healed of the fear of tuberculosis following pneumonia.
I herewith confirm the testimony of my wife. I myself have been healed of a long-drawn-out, painful skin trouble on my back, and I am very grateful for this healing.
Our Leader writes in the Preface to Science and Health ( p. vii ), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings.
I am grateful to know that Christian Science can be demonstrated with just a slight understanding, when properly applied, and that as we attain a better understanding of God, we can prove that all things are possible to man as God's image and likeness. Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
For the past twelve years, Christian Science has meant everything to me. During these years there have been numerous proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science to heal sickness, sorrow, lack, and the many difficulties which present themselves to humanity.
About twenty five years ago, for apparently no reason at all, a great sense of loneliness came over me. Everything was just as it had been for many years; I had the same friends and the same work, and yet I was unable to rise above the thought of being alone.
Gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me prompts me to give this testimony. During the winter of 1934 I was suddenly taken ill with what was a day or so later diagnosed by a physician as pneumonia.
Christian Science was first presented to me about twenty six years ago. I had been ill for about seventeen weeks, ten of which had been spent in a hospital, with what was diagnosed as exophthalmic goiter.
When I was a very young child, I questioned what it was that made Christian Scientists so different from other people. This curiosity, or desire to know, developed in my thought from having spent a summer with my mother at a hotel which was owned and managed by Christian Scientists, and where most of the guests were also interested in this religion.
