Testimonies of Healing
For the past twelve years, Christian Science has meant everything to me. During these years there have been numerous proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science to heal sickness, sorrow, lack, and the many difficulties which present themselves to humanity.
About twenty five years ago, for apparently no reason at all, a great sense of loneliness came over me. Everything was just as it had been for many years; I had the same friends and the same work, and yet I was unable to rise above the thought of being alone.
Gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me prompts me to give this testimony. During the winter of 1934 I was suddenly taken ill with what was a day or so later diagnosed by a physician as pneumonia.
Christian Science was first presented to me about twenty six years ago. I had been ill for about seventeen weeks, ten of which had been spent in a hospital, with what was diagnosed as exophthalmic goiter.
When I was a very young child, I questioned what it was that made Christian Scientists so different from other people. With grateful appreciation of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I wish to offer this testimony. Throughout a childhood spent in a religious home and devoted to the study of the Bible, I sought for Truth, but did not find it until I was practically forced into Christian Science because of an overwhelming sense of failure and mental depression.
It is my desire to tell others that peace, joy, and the consciousness of God's presence will replace the fear and despair of the darkest human experience when help from Christian Science is enlisted. This was first proved to me after the best efforts of medical doctors had failed to heal our young son of pneumonia.
Christian Science came to me about fifteen years ago when a search, through various philosophies, for God and a reason for an apparently meaningless existence, had proved futile. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.
Since early childhood I have relied upon Christian Science in every situation, even when death seemed near. It has healed me of many diseases, enabled me to overcome false traits of character, and, under very difficult circumstances, to obtain an education.
My praises ring out for Christian Science. What I have of peace, hope, health, courage, and joy I owe to the understanding of God which I have gained from the study of this Science.
