Testimonies of Healing
It is with a deep sense of gratitude for all the good that has come to me and mine through the ministrations of Christian Science, that I give this incident of my first healing, which was instantaneous and complete. It took place over twenty-three years ago, after I had had nearly four years of invalidism and semi-invalidism.
My gratitude for the light which the study of Christian Science has brought to me is deep. My life has truly been transformed through the study of this Science, which was brought to me seven years ago when I was in great need of healing.
My introduction to Christian Science was the healing of my mother a number of years ago. At that time she had been pronounced incurable, suffering from influenza and pneumonia.

About six years ago, a student of Christian Science, whom I had known for some time, told me of a healing experienced by a member of his family through absent treatment. The Bible tells us that "the word of God is quick, and powerful. " Several years ago this was proved to me so convincingly that I desire to tell others about it in order that they, too, may share in the joy and inspiration that it has been to me.
It is with a heart full of gratitude and a loving desire to give "a cup of cold water in Christ's name" ( Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p.
I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, although I was greatly in need of it, for I had what the doctor pronounced to be consumption in its last stages. I also suffered very much from the effects of goiter, and did not know what it was to be without a dull headache.
To one having no religious traditions or prejudices to overcome, the turning to Christian Science for healing may not mean radical changes and readjustments; but for me, as I had come from a family of doctors and preachers, and studied medicine with the aim of becoming a medical missionary, it was a complete surrender to call for aid from a Christian Science practitioner. When sporadic attacks of asthma seemed to get a strangle hold, all the "opathies" and "rays" available were of no benefit.
