Testimonies of Healing

The Bible tells us that "the word of God is quick, and powerful. " Several years ago this was proved to me so convincingly that I desire to tell others about it in order that they, too, may share in the joy and inspiration that it has been to me.

I am very grateful for Christian Science. I shall never forget the love and spiritual uplifting I felt when I first began the study of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.

I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, although I was greatly in need of it, for I had what the doctor pronounced to be consumption in its last stages. I also suffered very much from the effects of goiter, and did not know what it was to be without a dull headache.

To one having no religious traditions or prejudices to overcome, the turning to Christian Science for healing may not mean radical changes and readjustments; but for me, as I had come from a family of doctors and preachers, and studied medicine with the aim of becoming a medical missionary, it was a complete surrender to call for aid from a Christian Science practitioner. When sporadic attacks of asthma seemed to get a strangle hold, all the "opathies" and "rays" available were of no benefit.

Out of my own experience I should like to say to anyone who is struggling with a long-delayed healing, "Be of good cheer! and increase your confidence, for Christian Science heals, and it always will heal. " The difficulty is not with Christian Science, for that is God's perfect law.

It is with a heart full of gratitude to God, our Father-Mother; to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that I add my testimony to the thousands that are being given the world over. More than twenty years ago a Christian Science practitioner asked me over the telephone to quote the following sentence ( Science and Health by Mrs.

I became a student of Christian Science nineteen years ago, when I was sick, both physically and mentally. As a child I had been very delicate, and as I grew older I became no better.

I am very grateful for Christian Science, and for all the loving help which I have received through its teachings. When it was first presented to me, my need was very great.

The blessings of a student of Christian Science are many, but generally the first healing stands out more than all the rest, not so much because of one's being healed physically as for being led from darkness to light. I sincerely hope that the testimony of my first healing will help some seeker after health and happiness, as other testimonies have helped me when I was in need of a better understanding of God.
