Testimonies of Healing

I did not begin the study of Christian Science on account of ill-health, but because the riddle of existence seemed insoluble and unreasonable in every way. I prayed for enlightenment.

I became interested in Christian Science as I observed my seven-year-old daughter, a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School, daily apply her understanding in her experiences. I realized that she had something that I lacked, and that she spoke a different language.

Since taking up the study of Christian Science I have been healed of many false beliefs, results of physical injuries, and wrong traits of character; I have also been healed of the desire for tea and coffee. I am very grateful for these healings, which have been accomplished sometimes with the help of practitioners and sometimes by my own study and realization of the truth of being.

Many years ago I was led to take up the study of Christian Science through a friend, who, seeing my need of a physical healing, asked me if I had ever heard of Christian Science. I had never heard the name before, but in my great need I turned to it for help, and in a very short time was healed of a so-called incurable disease.

I have long wished to express my gratitude for all the good that has come to me through the teachings of Christian Science, and I trust that this testimony may be helpful to some other pilgrim on his journey. I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in 1908, not because I really wanted it, or thought I had any particular need of it at the time, but simply to fulfill a promise I had made to a friend who had just become interested in Christian Science and was so enthusiastic about it that she made me promise to buy the book.

We became interested in Christian Science through sending our daughter to the Sunday school. The simple truths about God and man which were brought into the home through her understanding caused us to attend the lectures and church services.

For the many blessings and healings which have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science, I am most happy to give this testimony of gratitude. I bought my first copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, hoping to learn something of the teachings of Christian Science.

That Christian Science heals quickly and permanently has been proved to me many times. Indeed, during the past twenty years I have had almost daily proofs of its efficacy in correcting every inharmonious condition that has confronted me.

I have benefited often from reading testimonies in the Journal, and am offering my own experience that it may help someone in need. At the birth of our son, the doctor was positive the baby could not be delivered alive.

Gratitude for the healing truth and for the Christian Science movement impels me to give my testimony. My first healing stands out to me as a landmark.
