Testimonies of Healing

I wish to add my expression of gratitude to those of the thousands who have been uplifted and healed through the truths which have been so lovingly and unselfishly given to us by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings. Eight years ago it seemed that everything dear to me had been taken away from me.

I am humbly grateful for the many blessings which Christian Science has brought to me and mine. I first heard the words "Christian Science" in 1911.

It is with deep gratitude and humility that I tell of the wonderful healing of my son. Twenty years ago he was healed of infantile paralysis in three days.

For the benefit of anyone who is looking for eternal life, wondering if he has found the way in Christian Science, I should like to relate the experiences of our family in finding the truth. More than twenty-five years ago the physicians gave my mother six months to live.

When I first heard of Christian Science I was sorely in need of spiritual understanding. I was poverty-stricken, had atheistic leanings and poor health.

I did not begin the study of Christian Science on account of ill-health, but because the riddle of existence seemed insoluble and unreasonable in every way. I prayed for enlightenment.

I became interested in Christian Science as I observed my seven-year-old daughter, a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School, daily apply her understanding in her experiences. I realized that she had something that I lacked, and that she spoke a different language.

Since taking up the study of Christian Science I have been healed of many false beliefs, results of physical injuries, and wrong traits of character; I have also been healed of the desire for tea and coffee. I am very grateful for these healings, which have been accomplished sometimes with the help of practitioners and sometimes by my own study and realization of the truth of being.

Many years ago I was led to take up the study of Christian Science through a friend, who, seeing my need of a physical healing, asked me if I had ever heard of Christian Science. I had never heard the name before, but in my great need I turned to it for help, and in a very short time was healed of a so-called incurable disease.

I have long wished to express my gratitude for all the good that has come to me through the teachings of Christian Science, and I trust that this testimony may be helpful to some other pilgrim on his journey. I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in 1908, not because I really wanted it, or thought I had any particular need of it at the time, but simply to fulfill a promise I had made to a friend who had just become interested in Christian Science and was so enthusiastic about it that she made me promise to buy the book.
