Testimonies of Healing

I wish to express gratitude to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her explanation in Science and Health of the two accounts of creation in Genesis, the false and the true. Although I had been studying Christian Science for about fifteen years and had had many healings, there was a fear at the back of my thought of the change of life.

For seven years it was my happy privilege to be a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School, for which no words can ever sufficiently express my gratitude. I was taught there the fundamental truths of Christian Science, to love and obey its rules, and to revere and honor its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy.

During my last year in high school, I was invited to attend the Sunday school of The Mother Church. The Sunday school teacher taught me how to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly and lovingly encouraged me to persevere, even though what I was reading was not at first clear to me.

I am very grateful for Christian Science because it has taught me, as seen in the following experience, that God does take care of His children. For a number of years I held a responsible position with a large company, whose business methods were extremely material.

For many years I have experienced blessings through the study of Christian Science. In the year 1887, while I was residing in San Diego, a friend lent us a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

When I first heard of Christian Science I was on the verge of a physical and mental breakdown. A practitioner gave us some copies of The Herald of Christian Science [German edition] to read, and I read them eagerly.

After graduating from an eastern college, I went to California, where I spent two years in the business world, years of disillusionment, illhealth, and extreme unhappiness. I had suffered from poor health all through college, but did not realize until later how closely linked were my experiences of sickness with a depressed and unhappy state of mind.

I am very grateful for the help Christian Science gives me in meeting every problem. I had the privilege of attending the Sunday school for about ten years, and during that period I made many demonstrations.

For many years I have been a beneficiary of Mrs. Eddy's discovery, Christian Science, and I have been very grateful for her teaching of God as infinite good.

Thirty-one years ago I found myself in a strange city, penniless and homeless, with two small girls to support. My husband, a comfortable home, and all supply had been lost in less than a month.
