Testimonies of Healing
I am very grateful for the help Christian Science gives me in meeting every problem. I had the privilege of attending the Sunday school for about ten years, and during that period I made many demonstrations.
After graduating from an eastern college, I went to California, where I spent two years in the business world, years of disillusionment, illhealth, and extreme unhappiness. I had suffered from poor health all through college, but did not realize until later how closely linked were my experiences of sickness with a depressed and unhappy state of mind.
For many years I have been a beneficiary of Mrs. Eddy's discovery, Christian Science, and I have been very grateful for her teaching of God as infinite good.
Thirty-one years ago I found myself in a strange city, penniless and homeless, with two small girls to support. My husband, a comfortable home, and all supply had been lost in less than a month.
Christian Science was brought to my notice more than thirty years ago through the quick healing of my mother. Knowing the distressing physical and mental conditions under which she had labored so long with no relief from physicians, I was convinced that if Christian Science could heal her it could also heal me.
Christian Science is one of my greatest blessings. I have learned that God never forsakes us if we trust Him, for we are told, "It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Gratitude for Christian Science compels me to write this testimony. It is now close on thirty years since I first went to a Christian Science Sunday School, and for many years' regular attendance there I am most grateful; it laid foundations which nothing can wear away.
It is with a heart filled with gratitude to God for the life of Christ Jesus and of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the revelator of Truth to this age, that I write this testimony. All my life I had been seeking Truth, but did not realize it until Christian Science came into my experience.
" Many , O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. " How, indeed, can I declare them all! I was privileged to attend the Christian Science Sunday School for several years, at home and abroad, where I learned to apply what I understood to overcome headaches and other difficulties.
It was for peace of mind, rather than for physical healing, that I turned to Christian Science; but during the early years of my study, sick headaches, curvature of the spine, chronic throat trouble, and many minor ailments vanished. Our first daughter was a delicate child, under the physician's care much of the time, but her pure thought was receptive to the truth, through which she at once became well and strong.
