I am very grateful for Christian Science...

From the October 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am very grateful for Christian Science because it has taught me, as seen in the following experience, that God does take care of His children.

For a number of years I held a responsible position with a large company, whose business methods were extremely material. During this time I became interested in Christian Science. As I turned more and more to Spirit, Principle, as my guide, I naturally turned away from the material ways of my associates. The breach widened, and finally I was discharged.

Then began in earnest the passage through the wilderness from sense to Soul. This was not easy, and more than once I cried out in my distress, in the manner of the children of Israel, who said, "Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger."
