Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science came to me in a time of great need. In 1929 I began the study of it for a physical healing.

It is a great privilege to be able to say that through the power of God, as revealed in Christian Science, I have been healed of a severe physical condition, have demonstrated progress in business, and have experienced a large measure of transformation "by the renewing of [ my] mind. " Several years ago I found myself a victim of the carnal mind, manifested in extreme indigestion, chronic stomach and bowel disorders, frequent and severe headaches, loss of many pounds of weight, insomnia, and, finally, a complete nervous collapse which took place in my office.

I first heard of Christian Science through picking up a copy of The Christian Science Journal in a local library. I had always been a delicate child, and at this time I was in deep trouble, having been ill for over a year through the effects of a tram accident.

The truth of two statements in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was proved to me in my first physical healing. These statements are: "The procuring cause and foundation of all sickness is fear, ignorance, or sin" ( p.

Christian Science came into my life when I was a young child through the healing of my mother some forty years ago. For many years she had spent much time in bed because of chronic bilious attacks.

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for what it has done for me. Over three years ago I was stricken with what appeared to be a bad case of rheumatism, and was forced to quit my job; and this left me with no material income.

Ever since my twentieth year I had suffered from heart trouble and had been under medical treatment. Then, when the war broke out and we had to give up everything in order to go from Russia to my husband's home in Germany, my suffering grew considerably worse.

Having received a great sense of assurance and peace from reading the many testimonies in our literature, I desire to express my deep gratitude for the many healings I have received and am receiving through the study and application of Christian Science. In 1930, having doctored with many physicians, and having followed a very strict diet, I had a stroke of paralysis, which affected my whole right side.

Among the many helpful statements to be found in the writings of Mrs. Eddy, the following sentence on pages 149 and 150 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" always brings me a great deal of comfort and inspiration: "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee.

Humbly I give thanks to God for Christian Science and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for having discovered the Science whereby Christ Jesus healed when he was on earth.
