Testimonies of Healing
I first took notice of Christian Science twenty-six years ago, when I came in contact with a very dear friend of long standing whom I had not seen for five or six years. When I asked her what had wrought such a change in her life, evidenced in happiness and health, she said it was Christian Science, and that if I would read Science and Health by Mrs.
Christian Science was brought to my attention some twenty-five years ago by my mother, while I was taking a course in science and engineering at a university. As this religion contradicted practically all the theories on which the physics of that day was based, I did not receive it at all kindly.
A number of years ago, while I was employed as a stenographer in a real estate office, I became deaf in the left ear. This condition lasted for a period of one year.
For anyone born and brought up in Christian Science, as I have been, there are so many reasons for gratitude that one testimony seems inadequate. A recent experience has been so beautiful to me that I should like to report it very gratefully.
About thirteen years ago, during a time of great stress, Christian Science was presented to me, but I did not become interested in it, because I thought its study required more time than I could give. The seed had been planted, however; and when about seven years ago I came to this state a stranger, in my loneliness I attended a Wednesday testimony meeting a few days after my arrival.
I wish to give my testimony in gratitude for the many benefits I have received through Christian Science and the many testimonies I have read and enjoyed in the past twenty-three years. In 1915 my husband was attending an Episcopal church and I one of Lutheran denomination, in which I had been a very active member.
It is with the profoundest gratitude that I give this testimony of what Christian Science has done for me during the many years that I have been acquainted with it. In the year 1913 Science and Health by Mrs.
While I was earnestly searching the Scriptures for an answer to what seemed to be a stubborn problem of anxiety and a false sense of responsibility for the situation in which I was placed with regard to my children's future, thought was focused on the last chapter of Genesis. Joseph's erring brothers sought forgiveness for their responsibility in his experiences, and he answered them, in part, "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it ' unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
I came to Christian Science through seeking aid for someone else. At that time I did not think I was in need of God's help, but several years later that which I had sought for another was of help to me also.
It is with deep gratitude to God for blessings received through Christian Science that I write this testimony. In the fall of 1929 I became very ill with a condition which the doctors called nervous depression.
