Testimonies of Healing
I wish to give my testimony in gratitude for the many benefits I have received through Christian Science and the many testimonies I have read and enjoyed in the past twenty-three years. In 1915 my husband was attending an Episcopal church and I one of Lutheran denomination, in which I had been a very active member.
It is with the profoundest gratitude that I give this testimony of what Christian Science has done for me during the many years that I have been acquainted with it. In the year 1913 Science and Health by Mrs.
While I was earnestly searching the Scriptures for an answer to what seemed to be a stubborn problem of anxiety and a false sense of responsibility for the situation in which I was placed with regard to my children's future, thought was focused on the last chapter of Genesis. Joseph's erring brothers sought forgiveness for their responsibility in his experiences, and he answered them, in part, "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it ' unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
It is with deep gratitude to God for blessings received through Christian Science that I write this testimony. In the fall of 1929 I became very ill with a condition which the doctors called nervous depression.
I came to Christian Science through seeking aid for someone else. At that time I did not think I was in need of God's help, but several years later that which I had sought for another was of help to me also.
Christian Science first came to my attention about nineteen years ago through a member of my family who was healed through Christian Science treatments when all material remedies had failed. However, I did not take up the study of it for physical healing, but for a clearer concept of God.
Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly;" and the Psalmist sang, "They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. " Since I took up the study of Christian Science and have been applying it, so many good and beautiful experiences have come into my life that I feel the urge to share in part these healing thoughts with others.
On many occasions during the nineteen years that I have been a student of Christian Science, I have expressed gratitude at Wednesday evening meetings in our churches for the many blessings this religion has brought to me, and I should have availed myself long ago of the further privilege of testifying to these blessings through our periodicals. When I was a reporter on a morning newspaper, I suffered a general breakdown in my health, including a severe nervous condition and incipient pulmonary trouble.
On arriving at a small town in Alaska, I attended a lecture on Christian Science and was convinced of its truth. The word did not return void, for I was immediately healed of a chronic difficulty from which I expected no relief.
After proving the Principle of Christian Science for twenty-three years, I wish to express my gratitude to God and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, through the periodicals which she so lovingly provided for mankind. My first healing was of headaches, which had been so severe that I usually had to stay in bed for several days at a time because of them.
